I’m interested in organising a radical feminist gathering in the North UK. I don’t care what we talk about, all I want is to meet with other radical feminists rather than sitting at this computer reading their blogs.
I think we can do it. We have to. Whilst the socialist feminists are organising their own conferences and protests, and the queer feminists are organising their own Feminist Activist Forum, what are the lesbian feminists and the radical feminists doing..? Don’t get me wrong, we are most likely doing lots in our own lives and communities, but there is no coming together and mass representation of the radical feminist community. And we need it to inspire, to unite and to put forth radical feminist ideas to engage with the dialogue of other large feminist groups.
This time, (as oppose to the recent attempt…) it shall be organised, as any radical feminist gathering should, as collectively, transparent and non-heirarchical. It will be unapologetically women-only.
As I have literally this morning decided that I would like to organise a radical feminist gathering, out of months of pure fustration and lonliness at being the only lesbian radical feminist in the village, there is nothing as of yet planned…so if you would like to get involved in the early stages of organisation or in offering a workshop, email me

Interesting. I was just clearing up my blogroll and came over here to see what was happening. A radical feminist gathering in the UK? Perhaps you can schedule it for the next LadyFest? I’m sure it would be awesome if you got a whole bunch of bloggers together – like BlogHer in the US, but radical.

Re: being the only radfem lesbian in the village and feeling lonely, have you tried gaydargirls.com, as advertised in Diva? It seems to be working for me, and could put an end to your loneliness if you are not already attached. I bet living in the Lake District is a big consolation though……..i’m quite envious!

I am on gaydar, prob is I’m not good at making conversation via the internet so I don’t go on it much. I am in a lesbian group but with it being the lakes, it’s kind of quiet. But yes, being able to walk through the hills is consolation

Brrnrrd, I’m not sure if you have faced this from Ladyfest, but I find there’s alot of conflict between the general ideas of Ladyfest people towards porn, prostitution etc with that of radical feminism. Ladyfest is very queer feminist, so tends to think porn is arty and prostitutes should join a union. It would be nice though if there was more radical feminist stuff at Ladyfest. Hmmm…we’ll see…

I think any gathering should be a genuine alternative to the status quo.

Charlie, just wanted to say sorry for being so absent as a reader. Have been absent generally around the blogs for the most part, dipping in and out rarely, even on my own. Hope everything is on the up and up since the start of the new blog and if I’m north enough please keep me in mind (depends on if you’re employing the ‘anything north of Watford’ criteria).
Been a bit lost in mostly local stuff and busy, tiring life. No excuse for being crap though!! Felt sad when I read a more recent post on your old blog saying ‘…not sure if anyone means to read this or comes across it while looking for porn’ (or words to that effect), and felt terrible as a past avid reader. Please know that I remain loyal in heart and mind, if not in eyes (reading) and fingers (typing)!
(That goes for all other feminist bloggers!)
